Every year our Mothers Group holds a combined birthday party for all our kids, who were born within a month of each other. This year I suggested a 'Teddy Bears Picnic' theme and volunteered to make the cake. Rather than make one big cake, I decided to make each child their own Teddy Bear cupcake;
I just finished icing about 20 of these (the photos aren't great - bad night lighting... and actually, the cupcakes aren't great either. I filled the patty papers too high and the mixture overflowed. The sides of the patty papers are sticky, but somehow I don't think our 3 year olds will notice). We only have two little girls in the group (the other two have moved away). I think they will like that their Teddies each have a flower in their hair (they are both very girly-girls).
Getting ready for the party tomorrow, I am getting quite nostalgic for the other birthdays we've celebrated. For the kids' 1st Birthdays, I made a simple (giant) cupcake cake;
and some Pig and Frog cupcakes;
...which had absolutely no significance to our children turning two,
except that it was an easy cake for me to make!
And some little tea cups;
...which I think are my favourite party food I've made, thus far.
As much as I love baking cakes, I am actually quite relieved that this year, Livvie's Nan is making her birthday cake. Aren't we lucky! That gives me more time to focus on decorations and party games. That party is on this Sunday... so I'd better get cracking!
